Do you really need to include milk in an effective weight loss plan? Is drinking milk every day necessary to get the right amount of calcium?

For both of these questions the answer is NO. Drinking milk does not need to be a part of an effective weight loss program or needed to obtain the right amount of calcium each day.

Consider the facts below:

1. Amercians consume more milk than any other country, yet Amercia still has the highest rate of osteoporosis.

2. All the necessary digestive enzymes in milk are killed off in the pasteurization process. It's no wonder so many people are suffering from lactose intolerance.

3. Pasteurization makes a good portion of calcium contained in milk insoluble, which basically means half of the calcium is unusable. Contributing partly to the high rate of osteoporosis.

4. Lactose, or milk sugar, turns to sugar that your body uses up quickly, which makes your energy levels ride up and down following the blood sugar highs and lows.

How can all these points be true? Isn't milk supposed to be good for your body? Yes, milk can do your body good but really only when consumed as it was intended in its natural state (unpasteurized). Sound scary? Many organic farmers drink unpasteurized milk and as a result are extremely healthy.

Another important fact to consider is that some cows are given a heap of growth hormones to keep them producing large amounts of milk. These hormones can, in turn, make the cows sick, then they are given antibiotics. The growth hormone and the antibiotics find their way into the cows blood stream and then into the milk the cow produces. Who consumes the chemical laden milk? That would be us!

So now the major concern is how can i get enough calcium? As we now know, our body doesn't absorb all of the calcium in milk. You can absorb more calcium from foods like salmon, broccoli, green leafy veges and sardines, bones included. Cows are definately not lacking calcium in their bodies, they eat mainly grass and this makes sense that eating greens gives you more calcium. By the way, it's not a good idea to eat grass. This only works for cows.

If you would like to reduce your osteoporosis risk, just make sure you exercise because this is the number one activity that prevents the disease. Weight bearing exercise, in fact, has shown to be the best kind of exercise to aid in osteoporosis prevention. All it takes is some small stresses on your bones via strength training to build them up stronger.

Here are some pointers to help avoid osteoporosis.

1. If you can, drink unpasteurized milk, especially if you consume dairy regularly.

2. If drinking raw milk doesn't appeal to you, go for the next closest thing: certified organic milk products. They are sure to be antibiotic and hormone free.

3. Consume more leafy green foods, broccoli, sardines (with bones) and salmon, to get your calcium levels up since your body cannot use most of the calcium given in milk.

4. Include a strength training routine in your exercise plan to carry out on a regular basis. Your bones will appreciate it, not to mention that your muscles and the way you look in the mirror will improve aswell.

To conclude, you do not have to include milk in your diet as a staple to be able to achieve adequate levels of calcium and health in general. You can still lose weight, feel great and maintain a healthy way of eating without drinking milk. Healthy eating plans are harder to come by these days, i suggest looking into The Diet Solution Isabel De Los Rios program, it stands well above other effective weight loss programs.
